A taxi owner was shot in front of his house in Embalenhle, Mpumalanga. But it was revealed that it was his wife behind the murder as she hired hitmen to kill her husband.

WOMAN HIRES HITMEN TO KILL HER HUSBAND

Back in 2011, Devillier Dan Zulu, a taxi owner, was shot in front of his gate in Extension 15, Embalenhle.

Police opened a case of murder, which was transferred to the Secunda-Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit for further investigations.

The intelligence-driven probe established that his wife, Thembisa Zulu, hired two hitmen, said Hawks’ spokesperson Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi.

“It was further established that on the day in question, the deceased had phoned his wife while at the gate. After opening the gate, the hitmen fatally wounded the victim and fled the scene.”

But instead, it was Seetsa David Mofokeng, 44, and Christopher Matsobane, 47, who had gunned down the deceased at his home, said Sekgotodi.

Mofokeng was found guilty of murder, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, said Sekgotodi.

“Matsobane and the wife, Zulu, were found guilty of murder and conspiracy to commit a crime.”

The sentencing of the three convicted murderers will be heard on 22 September. The three have however remained in custody.

SUSPECTS TO APPEAR IN COURT FOR FRAUD AND THEFT

Meanwhile, in the same province, three suspects will appear before the Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The suspects allegedly conspired and used a reportedly stolen FNB fleet card to swipe at their workplace when customers were paying for diesel in cash.

“They then placed the card slips in the till and took the cash in order for the payments and sales to balance. The value involved is R 28 424,93,” said Sekgotodi.

They were arrested on Friday by the Middelburg-based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for fraud and theft.

“The suspects were charged and detained pending their first court appearance. The investigation is continuing.”
