Four-time PSL winning coach Rhulani Mokwena faces intense scrutiny at Wydad Athletic following their shock cup exit at the hands of league strugglers Moghred Tétouan.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss, enraged and confused, didn’t hold back in the post-match conference, saying, “The last 10 minutes were not good enough to try to show you want to win. We wasted 75 minutes with that. I only saw the desire to want to win after the opponent scored, and then it’s too late. That mentality should have been there at 0-0.

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro announced he would be leaving the club after three years and five trophies, insinuating a small chance that the under-fire Mokwena serendipitously returns to South Africa.

The Buccaneers will presumably be looking for a high-calibre coach, someone worthy of taking over from Riveiro. Mokwena, who boasts a wealth of title-winning experience, could be the perfect successor, ensuring Pirates’ continued progress.
