The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a heatwave advisory for Gauteng, parts of Free State, Mpumalanga and Limpopo for Monday and Tuesday, 3 and 4 October.

The price of 95 unleaded petrol will be lowered by R1.02 a litre at midnight on Tuesday, 4 October, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced on Monday.

In other news, a taxi driver who tried to run over a metro police officer in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, has been condemned for his actions. 

Meanwhile, the private security, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) is seeking assistance with identifying an infant baby girl that was located dumped in a bush in Dawncrest in KwaZulu-Natal.

Four provinces facing 48-hour HEATWAVE: Warning issued

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a heatwave advisory for Gauteng, parts of Free State, Mpumalanga and Limpopo for Monday and Tuesday, 3 and 4 October.

The weather service warned that the heatwave advisory is effective for Monday and Tuesday. Residents in the affected areas, which include Gauteng, the Highveld of Mpumalanga and the south-western Bushveld of Limpopo, are being told to stay indoors and keep cool.

The price of 95 unleaded petrol will be lowered by R1.02 a litre at midnight on Tuesday, 4 October, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced on Monday.

Meanwhile, 93 petrol will be 89 cents cheaper.

However, in some bad news for diesel car owners, prices will be hiked by between 10-15 cents a litre.

WATCH: Metro police officer almost run over by taxi driver

A taxi driver who tried to run over a metro police officer in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal has been condemned for his actions. 

It is not yet clear when the incident happened and whether or not the driver was trying to intimidate the officer from writing a ticket. 

In a video shared on Facebook, a metro police officer can be seen standing in front of a white minibus Toyota Quantum.

Baby dumped in KwaZulu-Natal bushes with an apology note

Private security, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) is seeking assistance with identifying an infant baby girl that was located dumped in a bush in Dawncrest in KwaZulu-Natal. 

The baby was discovered by a passerby on Monday, 3 October 2022. 

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), a man discovered the baby at the base of an embankment next to a stream in the vicinity of a soccer court while picking mangoes. The temperature at the location was reportedly around 28 degrees Celsius at the time of the discovery.

Here are South Africa’s laws on purchasing and using fireworks

With Diwali and Guy Fawkes coming up soon many South Africans will start stocking up on fireworks. So what exactly are the country’s laws on the purchasing and usage of these items?

Well, it’s quite extensive. Besides the fact that fireworks are governed by the Explosives Act, there are also specific by-laws that regulate the explosive item.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), fireworks are regulated in terms of Section 30 of the Explosives Act, 1956. The SAPS also provides a list of ways to identify legitimate firework sellers as well as other important laws to keep in mind when using the item.
