JUST IN: The latest loadshedding forecast for the next few days
In the latest forecast of loadshedding, the blackouts will continue to remain at Stage 5 power cuts. But this could change by Thursday, Eskom said. The ongoing loadshedding will continue to be implemented at Stage 5. But there is a possibility of reducing that by one stage on Thursday, Eskom said.
The power utility announced on Sunday that the country should expect to remain at high stages of loadshedding. This is due to numerous breakdowns of generation unit since last Monday. Then, the country entered into Stage 3 loadshedding, with levels gearing up over the week.
Eskom’s worst case scenario: SA could face ‘three-week blackout’
Eskom has published details about the post-load shedding process and what would happen if things like targeted power cuts failed to prevent a major disaster. The firm has revealed that, in the event of a grid collapse, South Africa would be left without electricity ‘for weeks’.
The rather gloomy update was published earlier on Tuesday. South Africa’s worst-performing utility has currently got the country at Stage 5 of load shedding, down from a peak of Stage 6 over the weekend. Some, however, suspect that Eskom secretly went even further.

Motsoaledi said religious workers are welcome as visitors “but as visitors who can perform work.” According to the Department of Home Affairs, the change means there’s no way for religious workers to migrate or attain permanent residency without following due process and meeting the requirements laid out in the Immigration Act of 2002.
Calls for trucks to be banned in Pongola, Ulundi and Vryheid
Zululand District Municipality Mayor, Thulasizwe Buthelezi has called for trucks that pass through parts of the municipality to be banned between 06:00 and 18:00.
This, after a horrific crash on the N2 Pongola claimed the lives of 20 people on Friday, 16 September 2022.
Buthelezi said the R34 from Vryheid to Richards Bay and the N2 from Pongola to Richards Bay simply cannot cope with the number of trucks passing these routes on an hourly basis.
