Why are South African Chris Brown 'fans' desperate to resell their concert tickets - and are his shows really sold out?

Why are so many people reselling their Chris Brown tickets?

You’ve probably spotted at least a handful of social media posts from Chris Brown fans offering to sell their tickets to his upcoming concerts this weekend.

The US singer, who arrived in the country on Wednesday,11 December, is set to perform at the FNB Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.

CHRIS BROWN TICKETS: WHY ARE ‘FANS’ RESELLING THEM?

On the X app, TikTok, Instagram and particularly on Facebook,  South Africans have been desperate to sell their Chris Brown tickets to his shows in Johannesburg this weekend.

But why are so many “fans” eager to get rid of his tickets?

There could be a handful of reasons. Here are a few…

Trying to make a profit?

It’s no secret that ticket resellers are out to make a quick buck before Christmas with the Chris Brown show. This involves buying up a large quantity of tickets and drastically marking them up as the demand from the public increases.

It could be a scam!

Obviously, there are also those trying to sell fake tickets to unsuspecting fans.

Flights and accommodation

With Chris Brown only performing in Johannesburg, many fans around the country will have to travel to the province to watch him perform.

Flight and accommodation prices are also marked up due to demand, which has many rethinking the costly affair.

Moral change of mind

Then there are those South Africans whose moral compass has played a role in them deciding to ditch the tix.

Chris Brown – a known and convicted abuser – has a long history of domestic violence. A recent petition by anti-GBV organisation Women For Change, as well as the Investigation Discovery documentary Chris Brown: A History of Violence, may have changed their minds.

ARE HIS CONCERTS SOLD OUT OR NOT?

Rumours are also rife that Chris Brown’s concerts at the FNB Stadium – the largest in Africa – are not, in fact, sold out.

A quick search on TicketMaster – the official ticketing company – reveals that there are still significant quantities of tickets available for both the 14 and 15 December.

Chris has previously bragged about the “sold out” shows, now referring to his concerts as the “BreezyBowl.”
